Welcome to Kinsky Law
Who we are
Carl Kinsky
Carl Kinsky brings common sense, book smarts, and more than three decades of experience practicing law to help people make the law work for them.
Mr. Kinsky went to Marine Corps boot camp the day after he got his high school diploma. He graduated from Colgate University magna cum laude in 1983 and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He received his law degree from Duke University with high distinction in 1986.
After a year working in the corporate division of a large St. Louis law firm, he became an assistant public defender in St. Louis City in 1987. In 1990, he was promoted to district defender for six counties in southeast Missouri, where he has lived ever since. As a public defender, he represented poor people accused of crimes ranging from misdemeanors to murders.
In 1992, he went into private practice of the law. He continued to represent people accused of crimes and added experience helping people in domestic cases (divorce, child custody, and support), in personal injury cases (negligence and intentional torts), and in probate, contract and business disputes.
Mr. Kinsky was elected Ste. Genevieve County prosecuting attorney in 1994, where he served for 12 years. Because the prosecuting attorney position was then part-time, he continued to represent people in civil (non-criminal) matters.
In 2006, he returned to the full-time private practice of law with the firm of Roberts & Kinsky. He represented people in civil and criminal matters. He won jury trials for small businesses sued by larger companies and secured acquittals in felony driving while intoxicated and serious assault cases.
In 2010, he was elected as the first full-time prosecuting attorney for Ste. Genevieve County, a position he held through 2018.
Mr. Kinsky is excited to come back to private practice. With well over 100 jury trials in state and federal court, with experience ranging from divorces to construction law to homicide, he looks forward to helping people navigate the legal system.
